Benjamin Ikoma (°1988, Belgium) is a multidisciplinary artist, graphic designer, collective thinker and programmer, living and working in Antwerp. Space is the word that holds his broad practice, flip-flopping between digital and physical space.
On one hand there are crafts and processes: ceramics, textile and screen printing, as well as generative software and AI. Images are generated and manipulated, then land wherever space allows, from a print or a pot to a pair of pants or a wall of light. He works by the motto in randomness we trust. Every accident is a new beginning.
On the other hand there is space itself. Working in collectives drives his practice: creating spaces together with others. He co-founded Onder Stroom, Coming Soon and Meer Meer, which are spaces for experiment and collaboration.
DIY is at the core. If something is missing, he builds it. If something is closed, he cracks it.
